Field Training Officer
Course Description: This course is intended to ease an officer’s, transition from the academic setting to the, performance of general law enforcement or, detention duties. Although an officer graduating, from the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) or, Detention Officer Certification Course (DOCC) has, received a thorough introduction to basic law, enforcement and/or detention subjects, that, officer cannot be expected to immediately, function as an experienced officer. Subjects to, be covered include; motivating, trainees/goal-setting, developing and, administration of a FTO program, trainee, performance and evaluation, training liability, issues, effective interpersonal communication, skills, leadership principles, principles of, adult learning, ethics/employee misconduct, and, selecting a Field Training Officer.
