Interview and Interrogation (SEATED)

Course Description: Interrogation strategies for homicides and violent crimes will be fully explored. Rapport-based interviewing techniques and the use of non-traditional interview and interrogation locations will be explained. Rapport-building techniques from the neighborhood canvass through the investigative process and into the interrogation phase will be examined and demonstrated. Strategies such as sequencing interviews, seeding the room, and theme development during interrogations will be discussed. Case studies will illustrate how these non-traditional techniques can be effectively applied to active homicide investigations.
