Basic Rider Course 2 (BRC2) – License Waiver Course

Co-sponsored by the NC Motorcycle Safety Education Program, this course is designed for riders who have a permit and possess basic skills. Exercises are like the traditional 2-day BRC except speeds are higher and you will be on your own motorcycle. Course includes a 2-3-hour e-Course, an informal classroom component for discussing safety concepts based on past riding experiences and current knowledge, a Skills Test and a Knowledge Test. Passing both tests will be required to earn the DMV License Waiver.

With successful completion of the BRC2, you will earn a skills waiver card for the NC DMV. This means that the DMV will not require you to take their motorcycle riding test. However, you will still be required to visit your local DMV office, present your skills waiver card, and motorcycle license permit to be issued a motorcycle endorsement.

Individuals interested in attending a BRC 2 must be at least 16 years of age. Students under the age of 18 must have the Motorcycle Safety Foundation Waiver of Liability signed by a parent or guardian. This form must be signed IN PERSON on the first day of class. If the parent/guardian is unable to accompany the minor on the first day of class, please contact Tabitha Harrison at 704-216-3545 or tabitha.harrison@rccc.edu for instructions on having the form notarized. The minor WILL NOT BE ALLOWED to participate in the class without this important signature.
