Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is excited to offer summer enrichment opportunities for school-aged children, ages 12-18 for Summer of 2026. Camp topics include welding, sewing and public speaking.

2026 Summer Camps
Week of June 15-19, 2026 (South Campus)
Welding Warriors
Instructor: Dakota Rios and Steven Seeley
Date: June 15-19, 2026
Time: 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
Ages: 9-12 grade students
Location: South Campus – 1531 Trinity Church Rd., Concord

Camp Description: Welding is a high-demand, high-paying career with opportunities in a diverse array of working environments! Join us for 5 jam-packed days of fun as you experience a completely hands-on summer enrichment program that teaches you the basic skills necessary for welding metals in a fully functioning welding lab! The goal of this summer program is to provide an opportunity for students to experience the art of welding as they use SMAW (STICK) welding, GMAW (MIG) welding, oxy-acetylene torches and CNC Plasma machines to create a take-home project they will want to keep forever!

Improv On the Go

Camp Description: Want to improve your listening skills, boost confidence, collaborate better and have fun? Improv shapes students’ minds to think on their feet and form creative ideas on the spot. Students will learn a sense of humor about the world that can benefit them in social and learning environments. Students will work on being creative, spontaneous, shedding nerves and anxiety, connecting with peers, being part of an audience, being brave, going with the flow, teamwork, quick thinking and so many other important and fantastic skills. Through it all, students will see their self-confidence increase while exploring their own creativity and how group trust and teamwork make for an amazing and hilarious improv camp. Our goal at Improv on The Go is to educate, entertain and promote laughter… “When in doubt, have fun.”

Fashion Design & Sewing Camp (Morning session)

Camp Description: Learn to sew and tap into your creative potential this summer! If you are looking for a unique, creative, and skill-based camp experience – you’ve found it! From fiber to yarn to fabric, from 2D fabric to 3D clothing, you will learn about the history of fashion, garment design and pattern construction. You will choose a pattern, cut out the pieces, and sew the details. Then choose notions, embellishments and finishings to create your own design for a fashion show on the final day.

The Art of Effective Speaking
Instructor: Matthew Charity

Camp Description: This workshop helps students become more comfortable speaking in front of others. It focuses on real situations they face in school and outside the classroom. Students learn how to share ideas in group projects without shutting down. They practice presenting in front of peers in a supportive setting. They learn how to think on their feet when called on unexpectedly. The program also builds skills students use in interviews, class discussions, and leadership roles. Participants learn how to give feedback that helps others improve while building their own confidence at the same time. By the end of the workshop, students speak more clearly, organize their thoughts faster, and participate more actively in group settings.

Summer Enrichment Programs FAQs
Who can attend the camps?
Kids ages 12 and up can attend camps. However, some camps have an age limit, so please be sure to review the age range listed in the camp description.
When are the camps offered?
The dates and times for all camps are listed on the flyer and with each individual camp’s description. Camps meet for half days Monday through Friday from either 9 a.m.-12 p.m. or from 1-4 p.m., except for the Welding camps which meet from 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
Where are camps located?
We will be holding Summer Camps on the Concord (Trinity Church Rd), Salisbury and CBTC (Concord Parkway) campuses. Locations are listed for each camp, along with dates and times. Before camp, parents will receive confirmation emails, which will include directions to the specific campus and the location of the classroom.
How much do the camps cost per session?
Camp prices are listed with each individual camp description.
When are payments due?
Full payment is due at the time of registration to hold a place for your child. Camps will be filled on a first-paid, first-served basis. Instructions for payment are provided under registration information.
Are there any scholarships or discounts available?
While Scholarships are not available for Summer Camp Season 2026, we encourage you to take advantage of the sibling and multiple camp discount*.

What if I need to cancel?
Cancellations will be accepted for any reason up to 2 weeks before the camp start date. Cancellations due to virus or illness will be accepted at any time. After the camp start date, refunds will be prorated based on the number of days the camper attended before the onset of symptoms. Please do not send your child to camp if they are exhibiting symptoms of illness or have been exposed to any sickness.
What if a session is canceled?
If Rowan-Cabarrus Community College cancels a camp for any reason, you will be offered the opportunity to select another available session or be provided a full refund.
Can sessions be changed after registration?
Transfers to another camp session may be made if space is available. If there is a price difference, then payment must be made to reserve a seat for your child.
What about snacks and lunch?
You may send a snack or a drink for your child as you choose. A small snack and water will be provided by Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.
How should campers dress?
Comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes (no flip-flops) are preferred. No short shorts, tank tops, or offensive language on any article of clothing will be permitted. Please pack an extra layer in case the camper finds the air conditioning inside the building to be too cool.
What do campers need to bring/not bring?
All materials for camps are included in the registration fee unless otherwise noted. If your camper brings a cell phone, it can be used only for emergencies during camp time.
What if my child needs to take medications or has special needs while at camp?
Special needs should, to the extent possible, be specified on the registration form. Any prescription medication the camper must take during camp must be labeled by the pharmacy with the camper’s name; over-the-counter medication must be accompanied by a parent’s note and clear instructions.
How will the camp handle first-aid or emergency care?
First aid kits are available on all campuses. In the event of an emergency every attempt will be made to contact the parent or one of the specified alternative emergency contacts while seeking medical assistance.
