Summer Institute
Our Mission
The mission of the Department of eLearning and Faculty Development Services at Rowan-Cabarrus is to serve the college through a commitment to exceptional teaching and learning. The Department of eLearning and Faculty Development Services opened in February 2011 with the purpose of promoting excellence in teaching through professional development and collaborative opportunities.
The primary goal of the Department of eLearning and Faculty Development Services is to create and promote best-practice teaching-learning resources and to facilitate professional development programs to meet the diverse needs of the college’s faculty.
In addition to meeting the primary goal, the Department of eLearning and Faculty Development Services manages the Excellence in Teaching Award process and Summer Institute.
The Department of eLearning and Faculty Development Services will fulfill its mission by providing Faculty with:
- Career enrichment resources through leadership, research, and teaching development workshops, professional development programs, and resources to enhance and support instructional delivery.
- Interdisciplinary collaboration events include presentations and workshops designed to provide insight for addressing complex issues in the classroom, increasing awareness of key concepts and operations, and maximizing innovation.
- Diversity, equity, and inclusion programs that foster a culture of inclusion in the classroom and among colleagues.
- Social and personal well-being programs include stress management, mind and body sessions, and more.
Faculty Development Advisory Council
To ensure the Department of eLearning and Faculty Development Services is meeting the needs of faculty, a Faculty Development Advisory Council (FDAC) provides direction and assists in the planning of Faculty Development services, activities and initiatives. Council members also provide support by acting as ambassadors and promoting events, activities, and initiatives within their areas of influence.
Council Members:
- FDAC Chair: Director of the Department of eLearning and Faculty Development Services
- FDAC Coordinator: Team Member of the Department of eLearning and Faculty Development Services
- Full and Part-Time Faculty (either self-selected or nominated by an Academic Dean or Program Chair
- A minimum of one Academic Dean
