Book Delivery Service

Effective October 5, 2020, the Library will resume book delivery service with curbside pick up, enabling patrons to request books to be delivered to the campus of their choice (North or South). The materials need not be in the RCCC libraries; we will borrow them from other libraries if we do not have them. There are no charges for this service.

How it Works:

  1. Place items on hold using the Request a Book form.
  2. Watch for an email notification that your hold items are ready.
  3. Go to your chosen campus library (North or South). Look for the Sign!
  4. Call the staff to let them know you’ve arrived.
  5. Pick-up your items.
  6. Return the books to a book drop when you are done.

The Library Curbside service will be available at North and South Campus beginning October 5, 2020:

Monday and Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
T
uesday and Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Delivery Speed?
Speed depends on where we need to go to fulfill your request. Books in the RCCC libraries will be sent immediately to the designated pick-up location (typically 1 to 2 days). If we have to go further afield (other community colleges or universities) material turnaround time will be approximately 10 days. To see if the RCCC libraries have the materials you are looking for, check our catalog.
Who may use the service?
Students, faculty, and staff registered with the Library who possess a valid RCCC ID and are in good standing. Public patrons are not eligible for this service. Patrons must submit an RCCC email address. Correspondence will only be sent to an RCCC email address.
How long do I have to pick-up the materials?
Books will only be held for 7 days for pickup. Materials not picked up within 7 days will be returned to the shelves or lending library.
Where do I pick-up the book?
Please pick up your materials at your designated pick-up location. Full-time faculty and staff may request material be delivered to their offices utilizing interoffice mail.  Part-time staff must come to their designated campus library to pick up requests.
What do I need to show to pick-up my materials?
Materials will only be given to the person requesting the materials. The patron must show an RCCC identification card to receive the materials.
Where do I return the materials?
Materials may be returned to any campus library or book return location.
How many items may I request using the Book Delivery service?
Requests are limited to four books per 24 hour period. If more material is needed, the patron is able to visit the local library to retrieve the materials.
What types of materials may you NOT request?
  • Textbooks – Libraries do not typically add textbooks to their collections and the few that do will not lend them to other institutions.
  • Multiple copies of a single copy
  • Materials for placement on reserve
  • Reference materials
  • Archives and special collections
How long can I keep the materials?
Rowan-Cabarrus-owned materials are subject to its circulation policies, while books borrowed from other libraries are governed by the lending library’s policy.
