The Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Library actively contributes to the college’s mission by serving as a partner in learning, fostering community, and preserving institutional memory.

Promote a culture of learning by offering relevant resources and support services.

The Library will provide resources to support curriculum learning.

  • The Library will curate new resources to support the Human Services – Addiction & Recovery Program by the end of the 2024-25 academic year.
  • The Library will increase the number of library-created resources by 10% by June 30, 2027.
  • The Library will allocate 45% of the state instructional allotment to updating physical collections each academic year.
  • The Library, in collaboration with Tutoring and Distance Learning, will increase the searchability of existing LMS (Learning Management System) and e-text training resources.
  •  

The Library will provide services to support curriculum learning.

  • The Library will conduct at least four research workshops per semester.
  • Reference surveys will indicate that 80% of respondents agree or strongly agree that they “learned something new” each academic year.
  • Instruction surveys will indicate that 80% of respondents agree or strongly agree that they “will apply what they learned” each academic year.
  • The Library will conduct resource training with faculty and staff at the annual Summer Institute.
  • The Library will conduct at least one faculty training each semester.

The Library will ensure that resources and services are diverse and accessible.

  • The Library will audit library-created and vendor-provided resources by June 30 of each academic year to ensure compliance with the Standards for Accessibility (ADA) and Inclusiveness for Electronic Resources at Rowan-Cabarrus Library.
  • The Library will provide targeted outreach to SOAR participants at least twice a semester.
  • The Library will provide targeted outreach to TRIO participants at least once a semester.
  • The Library will provide targeted outreach to Early College and CCP participants at least once a semester.

Foster a sense of community by creating curricular and self-enrichment learning experiences.

The Library will provide a broad and diverse collection to reflect patron demographics.

  • The Library will conduct an inclusiveness audit of currently held physical and electronic resources for at least two program areas each academic year.
  • The Library will add at least fifty award-winning diversity and young adult titles to our collection each academic year.
  • The Library will add two databases focusing on marginalized populations by June 30, 2027.

The Library will provide self-enrichment experiences and resources.

  • The Library will increase McNaughton Leisure Lending Collection circulation by 2% each academic year.
  • The Library will increase the Dogwood Digital Library Collection usage by 2% each academic year.
  • The Library will host at least one NC Reads (NC Humanities Council) book talk per academic year.
  • The Library will host at least one cultural program per semester.

The Library will utilize feedback to gauge satisfaction and shape future services.

  • The Library will facilitate the Library Satisfaction Survey each academic year.
  • The Library will administer the reference survey to at least 80% of users each academic year.
  • The Library will administer the instruction survey to at least 80% of participants each academic year.
  • The Library will administer the program survey to at least 80% of program attendees at each event.
  • The Library will hold Library Advisory Board meetings twice an academic year.
  • The Library Leadership will review the feedback gained with the Library Advisory Board annually to improve future services.
  • The Library will distribute a newsletter at least once a semester to inform faculty and staff of the latest library resource and service updates.

Archive Services will increase the usage of archival materials.

  • Archive Services will increase the usage of archival materials by 2% each academic year.

Archive Services will curate and present three exhibits using historical materials each academic year.

  • Archive Services will present three exhibits using historical materials from the college by June 30, each academic year.

Archive Services will implement an open-source content management system for online digital collections.

  • The content management system for digital collections will be implemented by December 2024.
  • By June 2026, 50% of the photo collection will be moved to the content management system.

Archive Services will integrate archival records into the Summon interface.
