Project Information

The Ground Mount Solar Project is located on approximately six acres of land on Old Concord Road owned by the College Foundation. The site provides 1MW of electricity. The College Foundation owns the project and will receive the proceeds to support educational needs.

Building 800 Renovation

Project Information

Construction is completed for the renovation of the Building 800 Facility Maintenance space. This project provides updated office spaces for the facility maintenance team.

 

Rooftop Solar Project - Phase I

Project Information

The electrical connection to Duke Energy for the rooftop solar installations on Buildings 500 and 600, and the covered parking solar installation in the Building 600 parking lot is complete. This project provides connectivity pathways to future rooftop installations on Buildings 100, 200 and 300 to provide up to 1 MW of electricity to Duke Energy with the financial proceeds to the College Foundation to support educational needs.

Building 200 Mechatronics

This provided for the creation of the Building 200 Mechatronics Lab and Classroom. The Project allowed for the start of Mechatronics classes before the completion of the Advanced Technology Center.

 

Building 200 - South Wing, 2nd Floor Remodel

Project Information

The Project remodeled classrooms to convert them into offices for Finance & Business Services, Human Resources and College Advancement. The project also included:

    • Complete re-cabling of Building 200 to improve network connectivity;
    • Security enhancements including:
      • The first implementation of electronic access control at North Campus providing card key access to the building;
      • Re-keying of all door locks in the building;
      • Installation of video surveillance to enhance security.

Fire & Emergency Service Training Facility, Phase I

Project Information

  • Construction of a new 3,500 square foot burn building, training pads for various props, such as a rail car, fuel tanker truck, driving course for fire-engines, a loop road for training fire apparatus (truck) drivers, and a green with space for the World Trade Center Memorial has been completed.
  • The Groundbreaking Ceremony was held on January 28, 2013. Construction began in May 2013.
  • The College received donated rail cars from Norfolk Southern and GATX, which will be used for training fire and emergency personnel training for incidents relating to the rail transport which is so vital to the area.

Building 2000 Roof Replacement

Building 2000 HVAC Controls Upgrade

Construction of the  HVAC Controls Project Upgrades is complete. This included building automation controls upgrades and the replacement of pneumatic systems with DDC.

Project Information

  • The remodel of the second floor of Building 1000 converting the Student Services Offices and Testing Rooms into a One Stop concept Service Center is  complete.  This area is similar to that which was completed on North Campus of Summer 2012.
  • The Center includes the Navigation Station, Waiting Areas, Cashiering, Call Center, Financial Aid Offices,  Student Records Offices, Counseling and Advising staff offices, conference rooms and a Testing Center.

Project Information

West Avenue Center in downtown Kannapolis is the location for the Cosmetology, Esthetics and Nurse Assistant programs previously at Cloverleaf Center. The Cosmetology program offers the same services for the public it provided from Cloverleaf in a much larger setting. Many historic features of the building were preserved during the renovation.   (Note: site was decommissioned in August 2018 with move to College Station.)
