Mission Statement

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is committed to integrating environmental awareness by educating those on our campus and in our community to be responsible stewards of our natural resources. As an institution of higher learning, we lead and educate by example, inspiring new generations prepared to share this knowledge and passion and seeking to foster environmental literacy among the campus community through academic and co-curricular avenues. We aim to involve faculty, staff, and students with programs and activities to build a more sustainable campus and community. Sustainability impacts all aspects of our life, and we strive to become a resource of today and of our future generations that our campus and the surrounding community can be proud of.

Vision Statement

• Engage employees to be more conscientious by building knowledge, values, and skills so students, faculty and staff can participate in sustainable activities.
• Make sustainability convenient in order to develop daily the behaviors and changes they can incorporate in all aspects of their life.
• Develop campus facilities that serve as exemplars so others can learn about innovative sustainable systems and design.
• Work to incorporate sustainability into contracts, request for proposals, and procurement of college goods.

Committee Information

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College’s Sustainability Committee aligns with the College’s core values of sustainability. The committee meets monthly and host guest speakers to engage with the College’s students, faculty, staff, and local community members to educate them on sustainability practices. The committee members serve as a community resource and a catalyst for change.
