Selection Process

All applicants must submit the on-line application form and any supporting documentation stated as “required” on the job posting. Other documentation can include diplomas, transcripts, certification documents, or other important documentation. Please note that if the application materials and/or any answers provided within the online application indicate that the applicant does not meet minimum qualifications, the applicant will not be considered for the position. Rowan-Cabarrus reserves the right to limit the number of interviews for a specific position. Meeting the minimum qualifications for a position does not assure that a candidate will be interviewed. Interviews are granted based on the applications that best fulfill the needs of the College.

Applicants who are not selected for interviews will be notified by an email. Candidates selected for interviews will be contacted directly; the candidate will be provided the time and place for the interview.

Process may vary depending on position type and/or level.

Interview Process

Candidates should expect to be interviewed multiple times for a position. During the interview process, candidates may be asked to demonstrate knowledge and skills related to a position. For example, an administrative assistant may be evaluated on the level of proficiency with desktop office applications while a candidate for a faculty position may be asked to demonstrate proficiency through a teaching demonstration. Travel expense for any interview is borne by the candidate.

Interviews may be virtual, in-person, or hybrid.

All information related to the selection process is held confidential and is not supplied to applicants or candidates. For information on the positions, the applicant or candidate should keep a copy of the posting for reference as once the position is closed, it will be removed from the website.

Offers of employment to a candidate for a position are contingent on:

  • Presentation of “official” sealed college transcripts for positions requiring a college degree or college course work.
  • Successful background check
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States

Depending on the position, some employees must also obtain and pass a physical examination and/or provide history of vaccines as required by state and local guidelines.

Equal Employment Opportunity – Rowan-Cabarrus Community College believes that all employees and applicants for employment be afforded equal opportunities in employment without regard to race, color, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity including transgender status), national origin, religion, age (40 or over), genetic information, disability, or retaliation for engaging in an EEO-protected activity.
