Items are considered lost when they are 45 days overdue, and the replacement cost is billed to the student’s account. A credit minus a processing fee will be issued to the student account for materials returned within one year of the bill date. Materials more than one year past the bill date will not be accepted in lieu of the replacement costs.

Borrowers may pay for fines with cash at the Circulation Desk at any Rowan-Cabarrus Library. The Circulation Desk cannot accept checks, credit, or debit cards.

If charges have been sent to the Business Office, the Business Office will accept payment in cash, check, credit, or debit.

Grades, transcripts, and graduation for Rowan-Cabarrus students may be delayed until all Library materials are returned and all fines have been paid in full. Unpaid fines or fees will be sent to Student Accounts for collection.

Overdue Notices

Borrowers are notified of overdue materials by sending three notices to their Rowan-Cabarrus student email account.

Notices are a courtesy, and failure to receive a notice does not relieve the borrower of responsibility for overdue materials. It is the borrower’s responsibility to monitor their Library transactions.

  • First Notice: Sent 3 days after the due date
  • Second Notice: Sent 14 days after the due date
  • Third Notice: Sent 28 days after the due date
  • Final Bill: Sent 45 days after the due date

When an item is 45 days overdue, it is considered lost, and the borrower is billed for its replacement. The final bill is mailed via USPS.
