CBCS is the prerequisite or corequisite to Medical Coding Certificate. Both courses are required to meet the national certification requirements for the National Healthcareer Association and/or the American Academy of Professional Coders (dual certifications).

CBCS alone does not provide training to be a AAPC National Coder.

Upon successful completion of CBCS and Medical Coding Certificate, each student will receive a certificate of completion from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and will be eligible for the certification examinations through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) and the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).
