Nurse Aide II Refresher Course

This 25-hour course is designed to assess and validate NA II skills competencies for individuals whose NAII certification expired within the past 24 months. This course is approved by NCBON and utilizes the Nurse Aide II skills competency polices and skills training modules. The skills include Role of the NAII, Oxygen Therapy, Sterile Technique, Wound Care, Suctioning, Tracheostomy Care, Peripheral IV Fluids, Urinary Catheterization, Nasogastric and Gastrostomy Care, Ostomy Care and Irrigation, and Fecal Impaction Removal. Satisfactory level students will submit applications for listing on the NAII Registry with no further testing required.

100% attendance is mandatory

Registration Information

  • Class tuition: $135.00
  • Books: NCBON Nurse Aide II Skills Competency and Skills Training Modules
  • NAII Registry Application: $24.00
    • Students only have 30 days once the class is completed to submit and pay application fees to NCBON.

Required Documentation

  • Current NC NAI registry listing
  • Copy of NC Board of Nursing NAII registry listing showing the expiration date within the previous 24 months
  • Government issued ID
  • Documentation on letterhead from the HR Department or the supervising nurse stating you are eligible for NAII competency assessment in one of two ways:
    • 1. The NA II must have been eligible for renewal of NA II Listing prior to the listing expiration.
      • The NA II must have worked at least eight hours for compensation during the past 24 months performing nursing care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
      • The NA II must have no substantiated findings of abuse, neglect, or misappropriation of funds on the DHSR Nurse Aide Registry.
    • 2. The NA II has had a continuous period of 24 months during which nursing care activities were not performed for monetary compensation, but patient care activities were performed for compensation.
